Carré 35 plot
Christine, the secret sister of filmmaker Éric Caravaca (1966), is located at place 35 of the cemetery. She was born in Morocco in 1960 and died three years later. Why was she seldom talked about, at home in France, where the filmmaker grew up with his brother? Why has not one photo or 8mm film of her been preserved? In interviews with, among others, his mother, he tries to find out more about the girl. But Mother continues to hold back. Using archive footage and 8mm footage of the family itself, the maker outlines the personal and historical context of his parents' marriage and the period in which Christine lived. What was going on? With this reconstruction, the maker exposes his family's culture of silence and suggests daring connections with the Algerian War of Independence and Nazi Germany.
