Buzz plot
Documentary about the Hollywood screenwriter Albert Isaac Bezzerides, also known as Buzz. Buzz was born in 1908 in Samsun, Turkey. The Armenian-Christian Turk Buzz becomes a successful screenwriter who wants to write as much as possible about reality. The nearly 100-year-old Buzz looks back on his career in the film industry and tells juicy anecdotes about his encounters and friendships with the likes of Robert Mitchum, Marilyn Monroe and Nobel Prize winner William Faulkner. The film focuses on the period of the Hollywood production system in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. During this period Buzz writes his highlights from film noir such as They Drive by Night (1940) and Kiss Me Deadly (1955). This period in the film industry is also the period of Senator McCarthy's anti-communist struggle, many screenwriter friends of Buzz are blacklisted and disappear from Hollywood. Buzz himself is on the so-called gray list. He still finds work difficult.
