Born in Evin plot

Director and actress Maryam Zaree tries to visualize the violent events surrounding her birth in Evin, one of the most notorious political prisons in the world in Iran. In the 1980s, the then religious leader Ayatollah Khomeini arrested, persecuted and murdered tens of thousands of his political opponents, including Maryam Zaree's parents. After years in prison, they managed to escape to Germany. They never talked about this period in their lives.
