Borders plot

Anyone who flees from Africa to Europe has to work their way through tough border areas. Violence, exploitation and exhaustion are lurking. A young Nigerian experienced it firsthand in the Netherlands. She once paid a lot of money to come to the Netherlands, but she was lured into prostitution under false pretenses, and in the asylum seekers' cell where she has now ended up, she can only say: "I am not a criminal, but they treat me like garbage". Jacqueline van Vugt traveled to Africa and observed the borders that lie between Nigeria and the European Union: from Nigeria to Niger, to Burkina Faso, to Senegal and so on north, meeting countless people who dream of a better life and their have set their sights on the promised land of Europe.
