Becoming Black plot
Suppose you are the child of white parents and your brother is also white. Only you have dark skin, but according to your parents that is pure coincidence. That happened to a girl in East Berlin in the 1960s. A group of African men had settled there in previous years to study, after which the German Sigrid fell in love with Lucien from Togo. Sigrid had a child from him – but was already married to Armin. The child from then is filmmaker Ines Johnson-Spain. She seeks out her stepfather Armin and others from her childhood, uncovering the baffling denial strategies developed by her parents and those around them.
