Barre's Silence plot
The inhabitants of a remote Iranian village speculate and argue about the achievements of their local pride: fighting bull Barre. When, after years of success, he is defeated by his rival from a neighboring village, the defeat is painful. Betting on ancient bullfights involves a lot of money, but it is mainly the honor of the village and the owner that are at stake. Bull Barre is cared for by Bahador, owner Nader's son-in-law, who is serving a prison sentence. In voice-over we hear the history of Barre's victory march and the impact of the lost match on the villagers. Meanwhile, the camera follows those passionately involved in the bullfights.
