Banana in a Nutshell plot

Roseanne Liang is called a banana: yellow on the outside and white on the inside. She is a Chinese New Zealander. When she gets into a relationship with a "European" boy, her parents disapprove. He is barely even allowed into the parental home. When the two later want to get married, preferably with the blessing of Roseanne's parents, things become even more difficult.
