At the Stairs plot

According to Hindu tradition, when a husband dies, the wife breaks her bracelets and exchanges her colorful sari for a white one. Many of them end up in Banares, the city of the widows and followers of Radha. Do women have an identity that extends beyond the men in their lives? The answer is not a simple 'yes' in this part of the world, where tradition forces Hindu widows to live a life of abstinence. This documentary captures their loneliness and grief in silence.
