Als een Vlieg naar de Vlam plot

Like a fly to the flames, the young and well-to-do Alexandrine Tinne is drawn to the African continent. It's an instinct, she writes in one of her hundred or so surviving letters. Through quotes from this, the adventurer, who died in 1869, is given a voice. Her story is told from the perspective of the survivor, who tries to form an image of Africa based on her letters and all kinds of images that are available in the Netherlands: photos, paintings, drawings and stuffed animals.
