Alledaagse Waardigheid - Philomena Essed plot

Forty years ago, Philomena Essed (professor of Critical Race, Gender and Leadership Studies) presented the first copy of 'Everyday Racism' to Princess Irene. The book hit like a bomb. It was the first to address systemic racism in 'tolerant Netherlands' and mention it by name. Despite the controversy it caused, Essed's work was seen as the anti-racism reference work in the years that followed. With Philomena Essed herself, prominent figures such as Gloria Wekker, Marion Bloem, Princess Irene and Anja Meulenbelt and with the next generation of activists, this documentary examines the meaning of Essed's work. Why does anti-racism prove to be so indispensable for promoting an inclusive society?
