The Gourds are a band from Austin, Texas. The band was founded in 1994. In the music you can hear influences of folk, country, rock 'n' roll, cajun and tex-mex, but the band also finds inspiration elsewhere. For example, their 2001 album Shinebox features the David Bowie cover 'Ziggy Stardust' and a performance of Snoop Dogg's hit 'Gin And Juice'. This genre-defying band is still trying to find its place in the ever-challenging landscape of the music industry. This is their story.
