About Baghdad plot

In July 2003, exiled Iraqi writer and poet Sinan Antoon returns to Baghdad to see what the city had become after wars, sanctions, decades of oppression, violence and now occupation. He crosses the city and wonders what the Iraqis think about the post-war situation and the complex relationship between the US and Iraq. In the heat of summer in Baghdad, Iraqis of different ethnic and political backgrounds and denominations speak about the past horrors and their present fears. Reflections on the traumatic legacy of dictatorship, sanctions and war also reveal the resilience and humanity of a people that for decades was dehumanized and disappeared behind Saddam's image.
