"An Incredible Family Odyssey Of Hope And Dreams"

Filmed over 5 years, “A Syrian Love Story” outlines an incredible odyssey to political freedom. For Raghda and Amer it is a journey of hope, dreams and despair: for the revolution, their homeland and each other. Raghda and Amer met in Syrian prison fifteen years ago and fell in love. They were both political prisoners - Amer fought for Palestinian freedom and Raghda was a Syrian revolutionary. They were tortured in prison. After their release they got married. McAllister first met Amer in 2009 and then followed her family's fraught life for five years. After writing a book about their love story and experiences in prison, Raghda was arrested again and Amer was left to raise their four sons alone.
