11 Friese Fonteinen plot

As part of Leeuwarden's Cultural Capital 2018, eleven fountains are being built in the Frisian eleven cities by just as many top international artists: 11 Fountains. The ambitious project is curated by the celebrated Anne Tilroe. This documentary shows how Tilroe tries to make the closely involved Frisian population enthusiastic about the new and controversial water artworks. Then it turns out that the autonomy of the artist and the taste of the public do not go hand in hand. Will Anna Tilroe succeed in creating support among the population and making Friesland an unmissable destination for national and international tourists? Or does the ambitious project fail on the sobriety of the Frisian residents who see their beloved market square disappear?
