Juan Cesare, a descendant of the Borgias of Vienna, believes he has a murderous lust in him acquired from his long-dead relatives. He is in love with Florence Ballau, but her father strongly protests against this. Papa Ballau is later found dead with a Borgia-type Florentine dagger firmly lodged in him. Juan is completely gutted and haunted by thoughts that he could be the killer. But there's also a deformed housekeeper on the premises who may or may not have had a motive.
