The Finger Points plot

"A reporter dares to expose Chicago Underworld."

Lee is still a newcomer to the South when he lands a job at The Press. On his first assignment about gangsters, he gets his name in the newspaper, the police to a robbery and himself in the hospital. He soon finds out that it's every man for himself and can't resist the temptation to take bribes from the gangster boss Louis Blanco in exchange for not posting certain articles. Time passes and Lee does good business for Blanco. However, Lee's girlfriend tries to straighten him out, but he's too used to the bribes and too deeply involved in the corruption to ever get out of it.
