The Big Tip Off plot
"HE KNOWS EVERYTHING THE UNDERWORLD DOES!"
Johnny Denton, a newspaper columnist, gains fame for citing tips about upcoming criminal gang activity. His fame reaches its peak when he refuses to reveal the name of his tipster. It eventually leaks out that his informant is none other than the "king of crime" Bob Gilmore, who is on trial for setting up a fake telephone company to eavesdrop on customers' conversations.
