Porte d'Orient plot

Vaucourt is a customs inspector at the port of Marseille. When he falls in love with the beautiful foreign Valnis, he takes her to the nightclub of Zarapoulos where he loses a small fortune on gambling. Zarapoulos wants to clear Vaucourt's gambling debts when he agrees to turn a blind eye on an expected delivery that has to pass customs.
