"So tense! So taut! It closes in on you like a high wall!"

American pilot Steven Kenet, who remained in Burma for two more years after World War II, has returned to the United States. Steven is chased down the highway by the police. Next to him is the body of his wife Helen. At some point Steven loses control of the car and his car ends up in a shallow river and he is arrested. Steven is accused of murdering his wife, but now suffering from amnesia, he is locked up in an institution until his trial can begin. Feeling lonely among all the mentally disturbed people, Steven decides to see psychiatrist Dr. Ann Lorrison to confide in. Ann is cynical towards Steven at first, but later she begins to believe in his innocence and decides to risk her career and investigate.

Quite a nice film, just a pity that the decisive evidence had to be provided by means of a "truth serum". The motive and behavior of the killer are not always logical in my opinion.
