Harikomi plot
An experienced police officer (Seiji Miyaguchi) and his young colleague (Minoru Ohki) try to arrest a criminal during a scorching hot summer. The crook fled Tokyo and left no trace. The two officers see no alternative but to travel to Kyushu to post opposite the house of the criminal's ex-girlfriend (Hideko Takamine). While they observe her, they gain a lot of respect for her dutiful life. The posting doesn't seem very promising, however, until a letter falls on her mat.
