Graf Öderland plot

A conscientious bank teller kills a doorman with an axe. The public prosecutor is looking into the case and cannot fall asleep, because this murder will not let him go. It is an act without any motive that he can only explain as a break with the daily routine, an indictment of a life that consists only of latent obligations. While his wife Else uncomprehendingly turns away from him, the young maid Hilde feels attracted to him.
