Der Hammermörder plot

Three murders took place in the Stuttgart area in a period of several months in 1984 and 1985. In remote parking lots, always in a forest, the bodies of the men are found, each killed by a shot to the head. The victims' cars are used immediately afterwards as an escape vehicle during bank robberies. The robberies are always committed with the help of a large sledgehammer. The unknown perpetrator, to whom both the murders and the bank robberies can be attributed, is nicknamed 'The hammer killer' by the public and press.
