Zivot Je Cudo plot
Bosnia 1992 - Luka, a Serbian engineer, left Belgrade with his wife Jadranka, an opera singer, and their son Miloš. They end up in the middle of no man's land. There, Luka is helping to build the railway that will open up the region to tourism. Luka, blinded by his innate optimism, is completely absorbed in his project and remains deaf to the lingering messages of an imminent war. His life is turned upside down when the conflict finally erupts. Jadranka disappears with a musician, while Miloš is called to arms. He remains stubbornly optimistic and awaits the return of his wife and son. But Jadranka does not return and Miloš is captured. Meanwhile, Serbian soldiers force Luka to guard Sabaha, a Muslim hostage. He soon falls in love with the young woman who will have to be exchanged for his son.

Kusturica again sprinkles beautiful images, nonsensical scenes and absurd seasonal changes. The purposefully exaggerated acting ensures that the slapstick whole is complete. But this time, against the background of the war in Bosnia, he does indeed come up with a coherent story: certainly ridiculous, but also romantic and critical at the same time. Just a great film, which you really can't compare with others, or it should be with Kusturica's other films.

Good film about a family that moves from Belgrade to the countryside. Certainly not a standard war film, despite the fact that the war in Bosnia is gradually taking on an increasingly prominent role. There is more than enough happening and it is all beautifully depicted. The first part in particular is colorful, but in a pleasant way.

If you want a really fun evening, Kusturica is usually the right place for you. What a fun, colorful bunch he always creates with a very nice cheerful atmosphere! The railway connection that literally connects some residents is central here.
Kusturica also always succeeds in introducing the animals - with the donkey in the lead here - into the story without always being present. The soundtrack is very cheerful and the whole thing exudes a comic atmosphere. The characters are loco, which often leads to comic (and absurd) scenes.
It is not always logical and well thought out, but it is all the more amusing. Ideal for complete immersion.
