Mary Ames is caught trying to escape and locked in a room by Aunt Letitia. Her sister, Geraldine, intends to help her and goes to her friend, the police commissioner, to borrow a criminal. Paul, the commissioner's nephew, sees her and falls in love. He decides to impersonate the criminal to be close to her. Everything goes smoothly, Mary is released, and the escape takes place. But at that moment, the chauffeur and the former gardener arrive, along with the real criminal impersonating Paul, and try to rob the house.
