A dysfunctional family draws closer when Uncle Nino from Italy visits Chicago for a surprise visit. The uncle initially comes to America with the idea of being embraced by the country he has heard so much about, but in reality he sees nothing but misery. His family consists of hurried people who hardly communicate with each other. Slowly but surely Nino manages to get through to them.
