The Prodigal Liar plot

When Jim Rainey receives a letter from his cousin, Hope Deering, who lives in New England, saying she'll be visiting his western ranch and expecting romance and adventure, he pastes a picture of his friend, Percival Montgomery Edwards, on the wanted poster for murderer Steve Logan. Logan is in jail awaiting trial, so Jim convinces Percival to take over Logan's role. Percival moves into Logan's hideout and seduces Hope with sensational stories of his misdeeds. She falls in love, and after he explains that his life as a villain began with a blow to the head, Jim tells Hope to cure him by hitting him again.
