The Prank is a fun high school comedy with thriller elements. The main roles are filled in quite stereotypically. Two students who end up in a difficult position form a fun buddy couple. Both a bit nerdish but not real outsiders. Both more or less equal. In such films you sometimes see that one character functions as a funny sidekick. That is not the case here.
A nice couple. Well and fresh played by Connor Kalopsis and Ramona Young. Rita Moreno has a role as the teacher Mrs. Wheeler. She is strict, unpopular and a victim of the prank that is impulsively and thoughtlessly performed by the duo. A prank with unforeseeable consequences. An entertaining story follows that also contains criticism of the phenomenon of Fake News and the fleeting nonsense that drips from social media. Two annoyances that deserve to be criticized.
The Prank is fast, funny and occasionally a bit exciting. Just a tasty snack.
