The Pinch Hitter plot
Joel Parker (Charles Ray) is sent to college by his father (Joseph J. Dowling) because it was his mother's dying wish. At school, he is immediately treated like a dork and the only person who shows sympathy for him is Abbie Nettleton (Sylvia Bremer), the girl from the cafeteria. Joel becomes the school's baseball team mascot, but only because coach Nolan (Louis Durham) thinks such a sissy must bring good luck. When the decisive final battle arrives, Joel suddenly appears to have to play after all...
