The Missing Girl plot

Friendly, shy Mort runs a small comic store in a small town near New York. His new sidekick Ellen is a young woman who makes cartoons herself and is looking for a publisher. One day, Mort runs into his old classmate Skippy, and that meeting brings to Mort the memory of a classmate who once disappeared without a trace. When Ellen doesn't show up for work after a night with Skippy, Mort's unresolved past mixes with his current life.
