The Flirt plot
"Booth Tarkington's Masterpiece"
The flirtatious Cora Madison is beautiful, but also selfish and lazy. She has a sweet-natured sister, Laura, and a troublesome little brother, Hedrick. Cora is engaged to Richard Lindley but is attracted to Val Corliss, who has come to town to promote oil stocks. When Cora's father refuses to get involved, she forges his name on some papers, allowing Corliss to sell a large number of shares.
