The First Auto plot
"See this picture---it's funny enough to make a horse laugh."
Hank Armstrong, a livery stable owner, is speechless when his son Bob returns home with one of those newfangled "horseless carriages." Hank kicks Bob out of the house and stubbornly continues with his livery stable until he goes bankrupt due to the ever-growing popularity of the car. When Bob returns to his hometown to participate in a car race, his father, who had temporarily disappeared from the scene, agrees to sabotage Bob's car to make sure he loses.
