The Big Shot plot
The humble vet Bertrand Simms inherits a fortune from his uncle Ferdinand. What he doesn't know is that Ferdinand was the leader of a criminal gang. Under pressure from his wife, Bertrand takes charge of this 'organization', but is kept out of the actual activities. Bertrand also decides to secretly support a newspaper and activist group to catch the big boss behind organized crime. Not knowing that, on paper, he is 'The Big Shot' himself.
