Sleepytime Gal plot

Bessie Cobb, a cake decorator in the kitchen of a swanky Miami hotel, is at the center of a cunning plan by head bellhop Chick Patterson, who believes he can enrich not only Bessie but also himself, his fiancée and the three chefs of the kitchen. . He plans to enroll Bessie in a singing competition hosted by Danny Marlowe for a major record label looking for new talent. Chick has recorded Bessie's voice and exchanged it for that of the die-hard winner Sugar Caston, who is sponsored by a major mobster.
