"On an island in the Pacific, in a world about to change..."
On a small Japanese island, a couple of young children are shocked by the defeat of the only country they knew and incensed at the Japanese government's willingness to revise everything previously believed to be true. To vent their anger, they hatch a plan against the upcoming American occupier. Once it arrives, however, a new cultural shock follows: the Americans turn out not to be the murderous monsters one would expect, but treat them with compassion and respect.
