Life is good for Ruben Guthrie. He works in advertising, likes to party, has a model as his fiancée and lives in a house on the water. He is at his peak when one day he lies drunk at the bottom of his pool. Fortunately, he survives. His mother panics and then his fiancée leaves him. But not before giving him one last challenge: if Ruben can go a year without drinking, she will give him another chance.
