Nice *cult* film with characters that are very over the top and situations that are recognizable in films in this genre.

Still, the entertainment of Rock 'n' Roll High School can certainly be called good. The film flies by and is sometimes just a tad below the irritation level but fortunately does not go over that.

In the right *state of mind* this movie is quite fun to watch.

2.5*

No, I had never seen it. I did have that single in 1979. But yeah, I took my friends to my birthday party to see Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park.

Immediately after that I didn't have any friends anymore

I was a fan of KISS and Ramones. KISS did succeed in 1979, but didn't last very long at the mainstream top, but still. Ramones tried it with Phil Spector and Roger Corman and didn't get any further than a top 10 hit in the Netherlands. The film is actually just a standard teenage high school film, low budget Grease, but absolutely completely in Ramones style. That Phil Spector record isn't that bad, this Roger Corman production isn't either.

Revisited on bluray from 101BlackLabel, a 4k scan of the original camera negatives.

Rock, Rebellion and Ramones!

Funny high school comedy musical where the intention was to make the band “The Ramones” more famous. We follow the rebellious Riff Randell (PJ Soles) who doesn't care about the curriculum and lives for rock'n roll. Most will recognize her from Carry '76 and Halloween '78. Also a number of familiar faces like Clint Howard who runs a black market here at school called Eaglebauer Enterprises with fake ID's, test answers and hall passes. I recognized him from later 80's movies. Very small role of Dick Miller as police chief.
