Raye Makhfi plot
A female civil servant arrives by boat on a desolate island in the Persian Gulf and has to get as many islanders as possible to vote. With a sealed ballot box, she and a surly soldier travel in a jeep across the island, where mostly illiterate women, God-fearing shepherds and shy smugglers seem to live. 'Secret Ballot' addresses, among other things, the shortcomings of electoral processes, together with the position of women in Iran.
