Peaceful Valley plot

Hosiah Howe is struggling and earns his living on a farm situated in the shadow of a prosperous summer resort. The resort is frequented by Dr. Rand, his daughter Virginia, and a villain named Ward Andrews. One day, Andrews stops by the Howe farm and discovers that the land contains water with highly exploitable medicinal value. Smelling money, Andrews convinces Dr. Rand to buy an option on the farm, after which he flees to the city with Hosiah's innocent sister Martha.
