Not So Long Ago plot
Betty, the romantic daughter of inventor Michael Dover, gets a job as a seamstress in the fashionable home of Mrs. Ballard. Betty falls in love with the handsome Billy Ballard and falsely tells one of her suitors that Billy has been courting her. Her father hears of this "romance" and announces that he will question Billy about his intentions. Desperate, Betty goes to Billy and confesses her deception; he good-naturedly goes along with her story and asks her father's permission to visit her. Billy quickly falls in love with the dreamy girl, but his mother strongly disapproves of Betty and fires her.
