Her grandmother had warned her like this: don't do business with that man. But the attractive Gugu ignored Grandma's advice. She met a slicker, was seduced by him, married him, honeymooned to an expensive tropical island, and there he soon burst her—without paying the bills. Destitute, disillusioned but above all bitter towards all men, she resolves to focus solely on her career. Then her neighbor, chicken farmer Joe, appears on the scene: a tough and thoroughly decent guy. The well-groomed Dumile, her new boss at the advertising agency, also makes an appearance in her life.
