In terms of subject matter, it will certainly strike a sensitive chord, especially with thin skin for men who find it all woke again. It just goes to show that a film like this is actually necessary. I also recently saw the film Love, Simon. Also a high school film, but about a boy struggling with himself to come out. Homosexuality is more accepted now than it used to be (thankfully), but when women say they are being harassed, it is still considered too much that they shouldn't exaggerate.
So, an interesting subject that many young (especially female) teenagers can relate to. But does that make for a good film? The subject alone isn't enough, of course. You also have to dress it up a bit for a movie audience. And in that regard, it is quite cliché at times, and the film goes back and forth a lot. Not everyone in the cast is equally good, and Hadley Robinson is a bit too weak to carry the film. It remains rather superficial. The end result looks like an episode of Glee, but without the singing teenagers.
It's not bad; the whole thing is quite lighthearted, but it lacks the right staging. That's a shame, because a subject like this surely deserves a better film.

Not very subtle. Everything regarding sexism in this film happens in real life too; there are plenty of examples. But to combine it all into one film at one school? No, that was really too much for me. The film is a bit preachy at times because of this and fails to convince in its message. Otherwise, it has a nice atmosphere (that school really comes to life), good acting, likeable characters, and the film is reasonably watchable. It never becomes exceptional, but all in all, it is pleasant viewing. 3.0*.

Shy high schoolgirl Vivian [Hadley Robinson] seeks a way to anonymously voice her frustration about institutional sexism at her school. Inspired by stories about her mother's [Amy Poehler] student days, she creates and distributes the satirical pamphlet 'Moxie!' through the ladies' restrooms. In no time, active resistance against sexism erupts, and Vivian gets swept up in it. However, this comes at the expense of her relationship with her more reserved best friend [Lauren Tsai]. Moreover, everyone (including the school administration) wants to know who is behind 'Moxie'. An entertaining comedy fails as a satire because Poehler does not know whether she wants to take the struggle for emancipation seriously or mock it. The energetic cast and Poehler's smooth direction compensate for the unbalanced tone.
