Mainichi Kâsan plot

Rieko Saibara (Kyoko Koizumi) is a cartoonist and mother of a 6-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. When she's having a hard time, she laughs her problems away. Her husband Kamoshida (Masatoshi Nagase) was once a war photographer, but is now an alcoholic. He struggles to overcome his addiction but continues to relapse. Eventually they divorce. It's only then that Kamoshida realizes how much he cares about his family, but then he falls seriously ill...
