It comes as quite a shock to Estela that her 40-year-old daughter Ruth comes out and that the woman with whom Ruth has been sharing a flat for 14 years turns out not to be just a friend, but that they have been in a relationship all along. Estela realizes that she's been ignoring all the signs for years and now suddenly understands that not only were girls always present at her daughter's birthday parties, but they also always came in pairs.
