Le Pays Bleu plot
The story is set in a remote valley of Haute-Provence, in the vicinity of a village where completely different characters often meet, but who all have one thing in common: a strong sense of independence. Mathias, 38 years old and single, a farmer's son, never wanted to work on the farm and is a truck driver. He has two passions: freedom and sleeping (just that). But soon a third passion is added: Louise, a beautiful young nurse arrives in the village and decides to live there. There are other unmarried people: Zoe, who works in a fruit pickling factory, talks to the plants, the flowers and the trees as if they were living beings. Also Moïse, who can no longer do without Zoe since she once spent a night with her. Then there is Manon, who at the end of the night always leaves her house with her folding chair to admire the sunrise and is never bored. In addition to those who have fled the hard farming life to work in the city, there are others who do not like city life and decide to return to the countryside: Mickey and Sylvia, two booksellers, have left Paris to buy a wheat field and to cultivate a vineyard. And there are so many others: because in the countryside nobody lives alone after all.
