Lay the Favorite plot

"How far can a losing shot take you?"

Set in the legal - and illegal - gambling circuit, the story follows the unpredictable dreamer Beth who goes from stripper in Tallahassee to assistant to Dink, one of the most successful gamblers in Las Vegas. She is a natural but makes the mistake of falling for Dink, much to the dismay of his ex-showgirl wife Tulip. It is the beginning of a war between the three. Against Dink's advice, Beth goes to work for the flamboyant but unstable Rosie who runs all kinds of illegal businesses in New York City. However, when things go wrong and Beth's innocent boyfriend faces jail time, she must reunite with Dink, face the abominable Tulip, defy jail and return to NYC to take her responsibility. Will her chances turn and will she be able to win her battle?
