La Dilettante plot

After having lived in luxury for fifteen years with her husband in Switzerland, the flamboyant Pierrette packs up and opts for a life in Paris in the early 1990s. Her adult children watch with mixed feelings how their mother, after years of absence, storms back into their lives and throws them completely in disarray. After less than a week, Pierrette found a job as a janitor at a secondary school in a difficult neighborhood. She begins a relationship with a priest, rekindles old friendships and comes to the aid of a befriended antique dealer. As always, Pierrette relies on her overwhelming charm, but this one leaves her behind when she buys a clock from an eccentric old lady.
