Elaine Bradford is a young singer and dancer looking for her big break. She reads in a gossip newspaper the stories of columnist Peter Carlton about a certain "Mrs. Smythe-Smythe", a mysterious British who leads a super adventurous life and drives men to despair. However, nobody knows that Carlton made her up because he couldn't meet his deadline. When Bradford finds out, she poses herself as this Mrs. Smythe-Smythe, hoping to achieve a role with this.
