Marie, in her early thirties, receives a marriage proposal from her boyfriend Julian. Overwhelmed, she goes for the fairest way: she has to think about it. In the countryside, she tries to clear her mind, but is confronted by so-called 'thought people', people who all seem to have a clear idea of what is best for Marie. Soon they question not only Marie's proposed marriage, but her whole life.
