Hände Hoch oder Ich Schieße plot

Police Officer Holms has a rather unusual problem. The city where he lives and works has the lowest crime rate in the GDR and so he has little to do. Out of sheer boredom, he falls into depression and seeks help from a psychiatrist. The shrink's help isn't that great, but what does help him is his fantasy of being a London gangster hunter. A few crooks who do have a presence in the crime-poor city find a way to help 'their' police officers on a real case. They steal the valuable statue in the market square.
