Grüß Gott, Genosse plot
In 1989 the East German teacher Adolf (Jürgen Schmidt) did not return home after his holiday in Hungary, but fled with his family to West Germany. He finds shelter in a village with an uncle in Bavaria. He can immediately start working at a local secondary school, but unexpectedly meets a former student with whom he already had a lot of problems in the GDR at the time. He loses his job because he kept silent about his past. He is obliged to return to the now 'free' East Germany, where all doors are now opening for him as a 'westerner'.
